Shri Kharka Mahavir Educational and Charitable Trust (SKM), founded in 2006 by Mr. Devendra Shukla has emerged as one of the premier NGO's in public sector and field of arts and education. The trust majorly focuses on providing Educational and medical aid to the economically backward sections of the society. The trust plays an important role in development of healthy adolescence in younger generation by providing guidance and counseling to the thousands of teenagers to help them choose appropriate career options.

The founder of this trust, Mr. Devendra Shukla himself has been associated with education field for the last 18 years through Kalrashukla Classes. The trust believes in the ideologies: “ Sarve Sukhin Bhavantu Sarve Santu Niramaye ” and “ Vidyadhanam Sarvadhanam Pradhanam ”.

The trust has guided many students to help them achieve their cherished goal which paves a path for creating a new India with better vision. The sole objective of the trust is make education available to poor and weak section of the society. In vision of realizing this objective, the trust has provided study material, monetary assistance and scholarships to more than 3000 students. The trust also supports various educational institutes, government schools and Prathamik shaala in different districts of Maharashtra .

Every year, the trust distributes books, uniforms and other necessary items to the students of Children's Home in Chembur and Baal Sudhaar Griha in Dongari, Byculla. In addition to all these activities, the trust also adopts children with poor economic background to help them fund their education.

To support the medical cause, the trust distributes medicines, fruits and other necessary things in Government and Municipal Hospitals . On several occasions such as Death anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi , the trust has volunteers working in hospitals, attending patients and helping the staff in various activities.

SKM also organizes charitable camps for periodic health check ups related to blood tests, diabetes, heart check for Mumbaikars having a very busy schedule. Every year, the trust organizes visits to Old age Homes such as Matoshri Vriddhashram near Kalyan in Khadavli and Mother Teresa's Ashram – Premdaan in Navi Mumbai to distribute essential requirements among old people.

During crisis such as bomb blasts in 2007 and the 26/11 terrorist attack, the trust had organized blood donation camps with the assistance of Rajawadi Hospital and Lokmanya Tilak Hospital (Sion). This successful event helped in collecting more than 200 bottles of blood to help the innocent victims.

Since its establishment in the year 2006, the trust also has promoted Dance and Arts. The trust has organized ‘ Kavi Samelan ‘ to promote new poets. More than 100 poems written by different poets have been published in different periodicals to help them succeed in their career. The trust also encourages Bhojpuri artists and others in the field of dance and arts by organizing Dance programs. The renowned Padmashree artist – Sitara Devi was the chief guest at one such event.

The trust has donated Rs 51,000 to the chief Minister's Relief fund to help the families of the afflicted to cope up with financial problems. The cheque was handed over to the Hon. Chief Minister, Mr. Ashok Chavan in presence of Mr. Eknath Gaikwad, a MP and member of Indian National Congress.
